The Jumpsuit, Overalls, Playsuit and everything else...

Oh, how I missed wearing clothes without thinking the belly would get in the way. Don't get me wrong, as much as I love being pregnant with massive tummy, I do miss wearing my old clothes sometimes. The skinny jeans, the figure hugging "Joan Harris" dresses, and most of all, the jumpsuit/ overalls or whatever they called the one-piece suits that are everywhere at the chain stores.

Not to worry though, my daily outfit still consists the harem pants or the maxi dress. They are probably the most comfortable pieces of clothing for mom-to-be's and they're still on trend! Only a couple weeks until this proud mama could get back on her high heels and jumpsuits! =D

Frock Me Vintage #1

I've been having this idea in my head that I wanted to do something new for the blog. So I decided to do a feature every now and then, called 'Frock Me Vintage". I would style my sister, Nadiya, in our vintage dresses, and basically tell her to pose, ha! With the help of my hubby as the photographer, we finally shot some pictures.

The inspiration was nautical. I only thought about it when I put together the blue dress and the scarf.

The details of this dress, like the cut and buttons, definitely feel sailor-ey to me.

Love the scarf! Which I found in mum's drawer. It's basically mine now.. =P

Vintage shoes are Stuart Weitzman, Nadiya's own collection.

Sheer Romance

The idea of the sheer fabric caught in a light in this picture actually was not something that I did on purpose. However, I was quite pleased on how it came out. So I got to thinking of how pretty drapery sheer clothing is. It exudes romance and prettiness - and here I am listening to Michael Jackson''P.Y.T, just the perfect soundtrack!

Whether it's made of tulle, chiffon, sheer satin, soft lace, I think it never goes out of style. The lingerie trend probably does intoxicate me as I see them everywhere, from catwalk images on the internet, to high-end chain stores. Inspired by the Sheer Romance, I hereby present you some of my favourite pieces from my online-window-shopping (is there such thing?!).. Toodles..

'Black Summer'

A couple of weeks ago we went to our dear friends' exhibition presenting a new collection from PotMeetsPop Denim called "Black Summer". The denim collection was a collaboration with The Sigit, one of the coolest Rock & Roll bands on this earth! I've always loved the band and was excited to see the result of this perfect collaboration.

The details were just right, the hidden rivet, rope, and aahh, the words of wisdom!

So that's all from me for tonight. I am now going to rest my sore thigh and bottom that have been giving pain for me all day. Aahh, the drama of the growing belly! =)

Oops, almost forgot to give you the link to their website, doh.. click here!

Nadiya's Birthday!

OH, I am so inconsistent with my posting schedule, although I promised myself I would post more when I got a new notebook, pfftt..

Anyway, last month was my little sister birthday and she invited her friends over to our house. I'm not the type who really celebrates my birthday, so I was happy to see my sister had good laughs with her friends. On top of it all, she was gifted with colourful yummy cakes! YAY!

Rafika Duri - Tersiksa Lagi (DTX summer bootleg) by DTX

Rafika Duri - Tersiksa Lagi (DTX summer bootleg) by DTX

Today, I'm posting a song I really like to accompany this gloomy rainy summer season. It was remixed by my talented dear cousin from an old Indonesian pop song. This song is so dreamy and has a vintage feel to it, I could just picture old movie flicks with flowing summer dresses on pretty 70's girls..

Camel's Back!

It's already June and I felt like I haven't written in a year. Some new exciting things happened like the new notebook we bought (this is my first time blogging using it, so I'm extra careful = typing extra slow). I also bought a new lens for our Canon, which was supposedly a present for my man's birthday (it was just my trick, really, ha!). As a result of the new lens, I took some pictures to test it. Click click..

I was raiding my mother's closet to borrow some bags and I found these bags in shades of camel, so how could I resist?? I decided to take all of them back to my room and wear them in turn. It wouldn't be fair if I only wore one of them. The others would be jealous, no?!

This box bag from Celine is making a come back. Since I can't afford the new version, I'd be happy to just borrow this vintage version =D

PS. I'm not making up this whole camel trend because I rediscovered these bags, it's actually everywhere and I'm a bit left behind posting about it now, hehe..
PS 2. I changed my blog template with a touch of blue, you like?

The Metropolitan Costume Institue Gala 2010

So, the Met Ball 2010 had finally arrived, all hail the beautiful dresses! This year Met's celebrated the opening of American Woman: fashioning a national identity. Of course I've waited 24 hours for the complete pictures to be up on the web, and now they've fed my craving =P

My favourite look of the night was Kristen Dunst's Rodarte dress, it looked like a very expensive antique. Also, Kristen looked glowing. One of the rarest times she looked like a beautiful lady (for me, most of the times she just looks cool or cute).

But the most elegant of them all was definitely Marion Cotillard. That Dior dress just hugged her perfectly as if it was her second skin, flawless!

The coolest pack would definitely go to Chanel Iman in Michael Kors, Alexa Chung in Phillip Lim and Charlotte Gainsbourg in Blamain. Powerful and stunning. I saw a mini trend of the dress-tail as seen on Stella McCartney's designs and Elisa Sednaoui in Chanel Haute Couture. Something quite intriguing to look at. Anyway, for more and clearer pictures click here..

PMP - 2010 Spring Collection!

PotMeetsPop is a local denim line that I am loving! The boys who are behind this line are some very good friends of mine, and quite talented too I may add. My first PMP denim was a pair of shorts I literally wore almost everyday on my honeymoon. They are super comfy! I'm not saying that just because I know these boys nor because I get the denim for free =P They do make nice fabrics.
I actually struggled to get hold of my first pair because they are always sold out! (my size anyways) Thankfully, I ordered the Spring 2010 quite early, but I'm still after another pair from this collection, the soft rinse.. Hee..

Sorry about the lack of clarity on this picture as well as my dumbfounded expression. I'll take a better photo of my latest PMP jeans.

I need.. Double-breasted Suit!

Lately, I've been seeing gorgeous double breasted suits on magazines and photos from the fashion weeks. Some are even made of velvet and leather, but the best are still the ones made out of classic tweed. There is definitely that masculine yet elegant look to the double-breasted suit. They make me go crazy just looking at them, ssoo chic..

I started fantasizing Giambattista Valli version on me, looking at myself on the mirror, ready to face my clients at work with the power suit on! Of course it's only a recurring dream I've been having lately.

I think I'll go to the tailor very soon and have the suit made for me. The sketch is lying around somewhere in my room, but I'm still confused in deciding the colour though. Gray or black?

Phuket

A couple of weeks ago we went to this beautiful island for a little R & R - supposedly our honeymoon. It turned out to be this very nice short getaway we both needed a long time ago..

At the market on Kamala Beach, wearing Express sheer t-shirt, Portmans sunglasses, cotton bag by Topshop and PotMeetsPop denim shorts.

Sunset at Patong Beach wearing Supre sundress, Phuket Mermaid (a really cool local swimwear shop) bikini top, vintage sunglasses and Nike Bag.

My man, sitting on the transport of our 4-night holiday, in shades of blue. Fred Perry polo shirt, Esprit bermuda, flip flop by Dupe, rented helmet and rented motorbike.

I definitely need another exotic getaway sometime soon!

Click Clogs

Ok, so I've been thinking about the idea of wearing clogs for a while now. I mean it's not a new thing in the city where I live, I don't know why, but many family members are obsessed with the rubber clogs - also known as "The Crocs"! Eeekk. I agree with kids wearing them colourful rubber clogs, but for adults? Eh..unless you're a chef or nurse.

Anyways, back to the 'real' clogs that have been on debates in the fashion world since Chanel's Spring/Summer 2010 models paraded them, I was still in dilemma whether to like or hate them. Not until recently, as to my own surprise, that I found myself wanting to buy a pair when I spotted a black-studded-clog-mule on display at a Zara store. Luckily, I have a sane man who keeps me from shopping too much and buying things I won't even wear.

When I do finally buy them, I'd probably wear them with my crazy peg-leg trousers (my latest exciting purchase!).. Or with shorts and socks..

Peaceful Protest

A few months ago, our nation was shaken by the volatile socio-political situation that was happening. So, as I felt that my activist soul was summoned to be at the protest and as a good citizen of democratic nation, I went to the location (with my camera on hand!). It was a hot sweaty day yet somehow I felt proud to be a part of the peaceful march.

I was so intrigued by what this eerie-looking man was selling. He had so many interesting antiques and vintage leather bags. Alas, I did not come to shop..

And we do have balloons (tied to a cute red bike) when it's a peaceful protest!

Despite all the lingering political problems that are still around,
Je t'aime Indonesia..

R.I.P The McQueen

I've been reading so many blogs on Alexander McQueen death. All the rumours that are flying around that he had committed suicide really caught my attention. Aside that we all know he had a massive influence on the fashion world, it is pretty sad to hear these stories on the correlations of mental illness, fame, and super talented artists as victims. Take Heath Ledger who died a few years ago. He was like the new 'Johnny Depp', the rising star.

Back to The McQueen death, I can't help but think, "what would Daphne Guinness wear to the fashion weeks front rows and after parties?" For me, McQueen was one of the reasons I wanted to be a fashion designer, I had dreams of coming to his shows and buying his clothes on the first preview. Now the man had died before I could even afford to buy his designs..

Blue is the colour of Love

I've always loved the colour blue and everytime I see something blue I always want to own them, especially the pieces below that I would definitely put into my wedding registry if there's such thing in this country.. =)

More blue with shines and sparks. I could never ignore metallics, even better, sequinned blue fabrics! These fabulous pieces are exactly what I want, my wishlist.. I need!

'Nuff said.. I can only dream for now..

Party Pretty

The other day some friends & I decided to go to this small party that our bestie held. There was nothing crazy like any other parties. It was just right, a nice quality time with some close friends...

I wore navy nails with some strappy-cagey sandals my aunt gave me from her trip to Malaysia. I just bought the metallic nail polish and am very pleased with result.

These are what the boys wore. They looked quite nice actually as they were aiming for sophisticated look that night. Mission accomplished boys!

I LOVE the way these looks actually represented each of their own personalities. I'll let the jeans and the shoes speak for themselves.

And of course, it always comes back to the details...
